This series is getting great reviews. I think I’ll start on this one next.

From Kirkus Reviews, “The fast-moving plot is filled with clever details and magical intrigue. … [Forsyth] develops her characters with aplomb…creating an adventure that is more than just an exciting story. … Well-crafted heroic fantasy for readers just stepping into the genre.”

This series written for ages 9-13 has four main characters, two boys and two girls, making it perfect for both. Readers who love fantasy and everything magical will be hooked. Do yourself a favor and get all five. For more on this series, click here.

Clean it, kiss it and put a bandage on it!

0008690_all_better_300Your preschooler will delight in the animal friends’ misadventures and be eager to help make things “all better” with the five reusable bandages, which match the animal they are used on. Nicknamed the Boo Boo book, this title will forever change how you handle all those little scrapes and cuts.

Great new series for girls

Historical fiction and horse fans all rolled into one

Set in historic Roman times this is a fantastic pick for ages 10 and up.  With courage and determination, the blacksmith’s 0004729_300daughter successfully raises a sickly abandoned foal that later becomes the pride of the Roman cavalry.  With lots of action and suspense, this series is sure to become a favorite.  My teen daughter and I both loved it!  Start with Minna’s Quest, then No Turning Back and finally Far from Home.  Or get the whole series for $3 less.

11147177_10153006778589983_5046624678524064532_nOur Shine-a-Light books are a great big hit with kids from ages 4-8.  As you read the story they get to shine a flashlight behind every right-side page to reveal the hidden secrets of nature.  What fun!
Let your kids guess what they’ll find hiding in each illustration.  They won’t easily forget what they learn about habitats, tide pools, and tree trunks.  Pair these titles with a small flashlight for a delightful birthday gift or a special treat for overnights at a grandparent’s house.  Purchase one or purchase several in the Shine-a-Light series.
